Area code 407 primarily serves the Orlando metropolitan area and parts of central Florida, including cities like Kissimmee, Winter Park, and Altamonte Springs. It was created in 1988 from a split of area code 305 and has since become one of the most recognized codes in Florida. In response to rapid growth, 407 was overlaid with area code 321 in 2000, and later split again to create area code 689 in 2019. Orlando’s global reputation as the home of Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and other attractions makes 407 a well-known identifier far beyond the region. The area also includes a growing tech and aerospace sector. Ten-digit dialing is now required throughout the region.
