Area code 907 serves the entire state of Alaska, covering all major cities like Anchorage, Juneau, and Fairbanks across a vast geographic area. Assigned in 1957 (shortly before Alaska’s statehood), 907 went into service after a submarine cable opened communications between Alaska and the mainland U.S.. It remains Alaska’s sole telephone area code, one of only a dozen U.S. states or territories with a single code for the whole region.
